Stress in the workplace LO27076

Alan,

This is a critical issue for most "workplaces".

Stress caused by poor communication, lack of ownership of processes and
outcomes, the divergent implementation of IT systems at the expense of both
good business models and people orientation.

In the work we do, we constantly see highly stressed environments where the
dissonance is so bad that perpetuating patterns have evolved to the point
of becoming openly recognized as defacto corporate culture.

But it always comes down to the power of one - one person recognizing that
the stress is the resultant "force" of divergent and conflicting behaviors,
and detrimental to both the individual and the organization.
If you own your own output, take responsibility for it, and your
organizations goals are aligned with your personal motives, you receive
validation for your contribution, and your environment is one where you can
make mistakes and learn, prosper, and grow, then you will find very little
stress.

Such work places do exist, and I believe that we all, in the LO mold, need
to help others to "see" how they can achieve this state.

Kind regards,
Peter
