Self-Organizing LO13157 -Event June 20

Some Berkana Institute colleagues are convening a learning event on June
20, 1997 to explore the experience and potential of self-organization in
our organizations, our institutions, our communities, and our lives. We
are Dick Knowles, Jill Janov, Dennis Sandow, Larry Rhodes, Tammy Sicard,
and Maggie Moore. We have just learned that Myron Kellner-Rogers is also
planning to join us as a participant and resource. Myron is co-author of
A Simpler Way and co-founder of the Berkana Institute with Meg Wheatley.
We extend this invitation for you to join us.

We see this event as "real work" -- we are in the business of learning
about self-organization from the experiences that both the participants
and the conveners bring as well as the event itself. We are depending on
self-organizing processes to organize the resources, expertise, and
diversity that all of us represent. Together we will use our powers of
observation and discernment to see and feel self-organization around us.

We offer this event to 50 people who are committed to engaging in a
learning community that convenes for three days to explore different ways
to experience and reflect on self-organization. The event will be held at
the Namaste Retreat Center, about 30 minutes south of Portland, Oregon,
US. We will begin on June 20 with dinner and end on June 23 at 4:00 p.m.
The cost is $725 for the learning event, and $200 for lodging and meals at
Namaste. Commuters may join us for lunches and dinners at a cost of $70.

content that we have to offer, approach to the event, etc.), please send
me a note (maggiemoor@aol.com) with your mailing address. The mailing
includes a feedbacksheet that will enable the conveners to include each
participant's needs and interests in the creation of the event.
Registration is being handled on a first come, first served basis.

list which will be used to notify people of future learning events as they
are scheduled.
