Ironically, given the start of the original email, try Argyris and Schon,
"Theory in practice: increasing professional effectiveness", Jossey-Bass,
ISBN 1-55542-446-5, an oldie (first published early ' 70s) but perennially
useful on many levels. On defen ces against learning (aka people with no
desire to learn), you might dip into Isabel Menzies (sometimes listed
under Menzies Lyth), "The functioning of social systems as a defence
against anxiety", London, Tavistock, 1970.
