I dont have the references handy, but the general research on
teams concludes that teams are better than individuals at complex tasks,
and individuals are better at simple tasks. I would assume (ass u me)
that team vs. individual learning follows the same principle. As long as
there are equally potent learning environments and total equal human time
spent on the task, when the task is simple five individuals working alone
can come up with a solution or improvement (learn) in fewer total human
hours (more quickly) than a team of 5 people can learn the same thing.
