Vana Prewitt's point about individual development/learning plans working
best in organizations with a clear accountability structure is well made.
It certainly fits with my observations from consulting.
But I seldom hear the words "learning organization" and "accountability
hierarchy" used in the same breath. Elliott Jaques is one of the few
management thinkers who has tried to marry aspects of these concepts (in
books such as Requisite Organization and Executive Leadership). Do any on
this list work in organizations that have tried to build on his theories?
