In Response to the post from James Bullock on Maslow, At 21:21 6/23/97
In all of my years using Maslow's concepts two things became very clear to
me, the "Hierarchy of Needs" is played over and over in our life at each
new crossing. Each situation, drives us toward a fuller realization of
self-actualization, it is not just something that we finally achieve. WE
become self-actualized in many different areas and in many different ways.
In my personal study and work, I have felt for a long time, that one of
the "needs" missing in the chart is "communication." Communication seems
to play a much greater part in self-actualized being than Maslow seemed to
grasp.
Just some random thoughts.
