Barry -
In your work with teams, what tools do you use to facilitate information
sharing, coordination and, in some cases, collaboration? Specifically,
when the team leaves a facilitated meeting, do you have any systems,
processes or tools that help them continue to work together at the "higher
plane" that probably occurred in the facilitation?
My interest in ongoing, or virtual, facilitation processes started with
observing the difficulty of maintaining teamwork in global teams. If all
communication is left to meetings and conference calls, everyone's
schedule gets overloaded (assuming that most team members will belong to
more than one team). Further, even with teleconferencing, some members
have to sacrifice work or home time to attend in their off hours. We were
experimenting with a Lotus product called Team Room. Team Room added
structure to on-line conversations, and provided an opportunity for the
facilitator to monitor team progress and coach remotely (and privately, if
desired).
