How about, Ready, Aim in a General Direction, Fire, Implement Mid-Course
Corrections. In other words, why does the analogy have to be to an
unguided projectile? We can, and many times do, fire a guide missile
instead of an unguided one. Many times it is a good thing to "Just Do
Something." If that something gets us in the general direction we are
heading, that is. Then, when the target becomes clearer, we can provide
guidance to ensure that we get to the target. The up side to this sort of
though is that the process is moving forward even though the target isn't
completely defined. It is also an interative process, since may times the
target moves. With a guided missile, you can continue to home in on the
target even if it is moving.
In our organization, this is encompassed in one of our guiding principles:
"Tangential Stealth Serendipity."
