Dave, my experience is that fulfillment comes from within myself. My
family, colleagues and other loved (and unloved) ones play a significant
role in my self-fulfillment. The role each plays, of course, is
determined by the nature of the relationship--and that is frequently
determined by me. I suspect that the emptiness of relationships (which
sometimes shows up in later life) reflects the emptiness of spirit in that
wretched soul who suffers from the increasingly absent loved ones.
