Hi Doc / Kelly --
People are natural resources. In organizations, they are the machines.
The frustrating aspect of human resource management for many is that they
think they can control and manipulate the machine to do what they want.
But, we know that when you place an incompetent person in a position to
work with a *machine*, the results are devastating.
The machines today require a highly skilled, well trained individual whose
expertise goes well beyond technical competence to include interpersonal
competence. People, just like any other natural resource must be respected
for what it is -- in spite of what we think or want it to be. We must
maintenance the resource, use it wisely and always think about giving
something back to it so that it can *give* again.
