Scott,

I'm new to the list, but I've been in education (colleges) for 26 years,
so understand something about how these things work ...

What I'd suggest is that you have the *students* recognize the teachers
... that takes it out of the political arena and, for most teachers,
would have the most meaning. You might have each student name the teacher
who has made the most difference in their lives and then publish all the
responses.
