Hawaii is an interesting arena for studying multi culture. There are
Portuguese, Chines, English, Polynesian, Japanese etc living separately
and blending together.
When the sugar companies brought these different cultures they set up
separate villages for each of them. Made the villages like their home.
Today y they have largely integrated and live together blending into one
in what seems like pease compared to our existence in the US and your's in
So. Africa. I do not know how they did or it really worked but it
appears that respect for the differences is a key factor in living
together.
The other factor seemed to have been don't force it. When they were ready
they cam out and lived together.
Another factor was neutral ground. All were in new territory.
Just thinking.
