I have not been active on the list but I couldnt resist the opportunity
to get into this discussion of how to introduce the learning organization.
I would like to take this conversation in a little different turn.
I am employed at a 2-year college. As an organization we have actively
been involved in introducing the concept of quality into the
organization. Our President now wants to move the institution in a new
direction. He feels that it is time to introduce the concept of the
learning organization. He knows that it is an area of some interest for
me and has asked for some suggestions.
Some might think that the LO concept an academics would be a natural fit
but I see and uphill battle. The academic environment is one in which
there are many traditions and some degree of conservative thinking.
I would very much like to hear from those who may have had similar
experience of introducing the concept of the LO into an academic
environment. How have you introduced the concept? What has been your
experience? Any suggestions as to different approaches?
We can take this off the list if you wish.
[Host's Note: How to create Org Learning in an academic institution is
just fine here on the LO list. ...Rick]
