I too would like to see research in that area. My belief is that most
people confuse correlation with cause & effect when discussing incentives
and organizational effectivness. Research that would be more compelling
would look at ineffective organizations (however effectiveness is defined)
as well as effective organizations. We might find that the incentives that
dominate ineffective organizations are the same as the incentives that
dominate effective organizations. Then where would we be?
