"I wonder if there is a link between the parable of the boiled frog
(Field book) and current thread on this list. . . ."
The magazine Fast Company, in one of its regular features, looks at some
of those ongoing stories that everyone repeats as fact but which have no
readily verifiable origin. Recently (issue 10), the boiled frog story came
under scrutiny. The conclusion from several biologists was that a frog in
fact jumps out of water that exceeds its comfort level, even if that
comfort level is approached gradually. Perhaps a different parable is in
order. . . .is it time to retire the boiled frog?
