Much of the training I design and deliver uses questions as the
foundational building blocks of the course. Like you, I have experienced
participants who are so anixous about doing a "task" that questions to
them are a waste of time. And indeed, if that is their thinking - they
are. In some cases I have turned the tables at the first sign of this sort
of thinking. I would then instruct them, "If we could answer three
questions about "x" that would increase our effectiveness, what would
those questions be?" It doesn't always work, but I've had some success.
