Replying to LO17154 --

Lee Bloomquist asked:

>How can I be sure that my key insight will not become my key failure?

This is an interesting question, but one that I'm not sure any indiviudal
can know in their own lifetime. For one, our personal belief about key
insights in our lives and that which the world judges as key, might be
different. It may take a whole different world even to understand what is
being said. Walt Whitman for example or Leonardo Da Vinci.

Another factor is that ideas can have a life of their own, beyond that
which may have been intended by the ideator. Lugi Pirandello has a play
called, "Six Characters in Search of an Author." It was 1967 when I
studied it in college, but as I recall, the story was of a playwright who
had created characters, but not finished the play. The characters
themselves demanded they be used, since they had been created. If their
originator wasn't going to use them, they'd go find another author.

Humanity, I suggest, is the ultimate learning organization. Cultural
knowledge managment is the key to sustainability. Some humans may be, from
time to time inspired, and be conduits for greater insights from wisdom's
source. Great minds, like Albert Einstein, have in reference to such
insights, given credit to the fact that they stood on the shoulders of
giants, the cultural knowledge base. I don't think we should individually
worry about failure, but encourage ideas be road tested for truth. Ye
shall know them by their results.

Because of my work as a regional council (cog) director, many people come
to our offices looking for information about grants. I encourage everyone,
saying that the seeking of funding hones the proposal, whether or not they
get the specific grant requested. I also give the affirmation that it is
my experience that, "good ideas attract resources."

The ever growing knowledge base of the planet, enhanced by super
communications connectivity like ours, will support the maintenance,
development and retention of the intellectual feelings, thoughts,
out-picturings and wisdom of this highly complex, organizationally
challenged planet. Failure is encouraged and rewarded. Thanks for showing
us how not to do something.
