I suppose, in teaching teacher becomes an active learner - as we do
indulge in learning while making a speach or a presentation. Infact our
learning gets manifested when we do things. Teaching is not at all an
exception to this - and the those are being tought become relatively
passive listeners. This situation does not give any visible signs asto
all the listeners are indulging in learning.

In training the trainer makes both himself and the trainees active.

This seems to be physical manifestation of difference between teaching and
training. But the process reflection takes place in both of them. It is
this process that help people learn. To ensure learning to take place
both the teacher and the trainer need to create conducive situations to
encourage people share their reflections.

When I recall my experiences in a teaching situation (where I was being
tought) it was my interest in the topic of teaching that stimulated me to
think and reflect after listening to the teacher. I also pretended to be
listening by skillfully indulging in writing my own notes. When I was a
trainee, sometimes my involvement was for meeting the social desirability
though not interested. As a trainee I remember getting into unwanted
activities and ended up taking full responsibility to pursue them

Just like reflection, insight is another common phenomenon in both
teaching and training situations. It is very difficult to differentiate
both of them in terms of which situation gives more opportunities for
reflection and gaining insights. It always depends on the learner in both
the cases.

I have just indulged in a loud thinking.

Peace
