3rd WORLD CONGRESS ON THE MANAGEMENT OF INTELLECTUAL CAPITAL
AND INNOVATION (Jan. 20-22, 1999)
The 3rd World Congress on Managing Intellectual Capital and
Innovation (in conjunction with the 20th McMaster Business
Conference) sponsored by the Management of Innovation and New
Technology - Research Centre at McMaster University ("Canada's most
innovative university!") will be held January 20-22, 1999, in
Hamilton, Ontario, Canada.
Note: The 1996 (1st) and 1998 (2nd) World Congresses on Intellectual
Capital attracted approx. 550 delegates (practitioners, academics
and students) from 15 countries.

B. Competitive strategies in the knowledge economy
C. Tools to manage investment in people skills, information bases
and technological capabilities
D. Measuring "return on investment" in an innovative society
E. Accounting for inventories of knowledge assets
F. Organizing for intellectual capital
G. Managing "innovation teams"
H. Rewarding innovators (especially when innovations fail!)
I. Cultural differences in managing intellectual capital
J. Managing transfers of intellectual capital and innovation
K. The ethics of innovation (Should some new products not be
produced?)
L. Public policies for the innovation society and for the
protection/development of intellectual capital
M. Legal considerations in managing intellectual capital (e.g. Who
owns what?)
N. Management of innovation education: curricula, program
evaluations and required changes

ACCEPTED PAPERS:
All accepted papers will be published in full or in abstract form
in a book of proceedings.
Prizes will be awarded for the best conference papers.
Selected papers will be published in a Special Edition of the
International Journal of Technology Management.
