Come July 1, my wife, daughter of 3 years old, and I will be moving to
China for a year. We will teaching incoming study abroad college students
from the US about Chinese cultures, history, philosophy, etc. while they
study Chinese at the local University. I always learn the most when I
must teach and facilitate discussions. We'll live in Chengdu, the capital
of Sichuan, famous for their great spicy food.
Presently, internet connection are in question in Chengdu. But if I find
a strong connection, I could join the LO list while there. One chinese
professor friend had his email down since December!. My wife's experience
in China 10 years ago suggests hot water and heat are in short supply too.
She says, "if you like camping, you'll do fine."
I have been enriched by the conversation from the members this list. It
was my pleasure to met Scott Simmerman, Pam Dodds, et al. at the ASTD
conference and meet the persons behind the writing. I listened (or
lurked) more than responded, but that is the type of learner I am.
Thanks, at least in part to this list, I quit a rotten job as a
supervisor. Now I'm 3 courses and a dissertation away from my Ph.D in
Adult Ed. I want to make the work place where people enjoying coming and
find some measure of satisfaction and meaning in their lives. Many thanks
agains for your thoughts.
If you have any words to share, please write me off the list since I will
unsubscribe soon. Thanks to Rick for his labor of love.
Happy trails,
Tony
