Replying to LO19423 --

> Why should you encourage your employees to participate in professional
> development?

Two reasons:
1) Job security; The more equipped you are professionally the more secure
your position and the more marketable you are.
2) Job satisfaction; If you are in a constantly learning mode then your job
becomes more challenging and rewarding.

> What are the consequences of not using professional development?

Unemployment and non-marketability. If, as an employee, you are not willing
to learn and advance then you are in a dead end job and your monetary gains
will not be as you expected or want.

> What are the best sources of professional development - how should it be
> conducted?

Professional organizations, experienced personnel within the company, a
dedicated education staff willing to spend the time and effort to produce
quality learning offerings and deliver them with professional demeanor
using the BEST technology available for maximum educational benefit.
