I am looking for references to a system that I recently heard about. The
person describing it said it was called the 'roll call' method. In this
method, managers or leaders coming together for a review are asked to
characterize projects as red light, yellow light, or green light. The
colors correspond respectively to the status: red means that the person
is asking for help and the leaders are expected to reallocate resources.
Yellow is not as serious but gives everyone a heads up. Green means that a
project or initiative is on track. The point was that unlike other
meetings where people get together to be 'beat up' for results this
meetings had a method where people were strongly encouraged to give an
accurate read of their project status. I would like to read more about
this but have not found any references yet. The person telling about it
said they learned of it at a reengineering seminar and that it was
attributed to IBM. Is there anyone out there who can point me in the right
direction? Apologies for any cross-posting as I am also asking this
question on the ODCnet list.
