I highly recommend "Managing by Values" by Ken Blanchard and Michael
O'Conner. It's about a 90 minute read and I think will give you some
insights on the role of values with respect to the internal/external
schools of thought. From Berret-Koehler, ISBN 1-587675-007-8, available in
most bookstores.
