Not to belabor the obvious, but you may find you help thinking through
your dilemma (to which many of our LO colleagues have already responded
with insight) by looking at the "stages" of building shared vision in
Bryan Smith's contribution to The Fifth Discipline Fieldbook. I've found
it helpful in sorting through the dynamics of vision/mission depending on
the role of leadership in the process. His "Letter to the CEO" in the
same volume is also helpful.
