The reason why there is not too many serious discussion groups around ROI
because the new fad is EVA, and the next one will be who knows what.
Basically any business driver that is financial is seriously flawed,
simply because the key drivers of business have nothing to do with
financial computation or any financial ratio no matter how sophisticated.
The most successful companies in the world all have needs based
structures. Those that are based on processes and functions like most
firms are today are now having serious competition problems, redundancies,
downsizing, or just plain squeezing of profits. Profits are not an end in
themselves but an indication that the business is doing something right.
ROI is also not a very good systems approach.
