In reply to Lee who questioned the "relationships (or differences) between
organisational learning and knowledge management".
Lee: I see organizational learning as a prerequisite for Knowledge
Management. In terms of Senge's work, I believe organizations need to
have some competency in the five disciplines (Shared Vision, Team
Learning, Personal Mastery, Mental Models, Systems Thinking) to be able to
move to Knowledge Management. My experience is that KM is best when
focused around a specific business pain and then using a technique like
Systems Thinking to determine all the cause / effects that are involved
with this business pain. In fact, I find KM starts to look more like
Hammer's original Reengineering with emphasis on the people. What it is
not - a technology issue exclusively. That may stir up some thoughts!!
