((I thought Org revolutionaries might be interested in this new book of
Prof. James J. Duderstadt -Received via AAUP Center..[details are
below]...in his new book.."A University for the Twenty-first Century", he
tried to make some good points on the array of economic, social, and
technological forces that driving the rapid and profound change in
American social institutions and universities in particular. And, to add
here..I would also like to point out one good essay, "New Roles for the
21st Century University"..written by Prof. Duderstadt..published under
"The Future of Higher Education" for the ISSUES Online Magazine (National
Academy Press)..can be found at:

new social contact between society and the institutions of higher
education"..The Society of Learning constitutes of Learner-centered
phenomena, Affordable universities, Lifelong Learning, Interactive and

technology..Prof. Duderstadt also commented on the transformation,
that.."The real question is not whether higher education will be
transformed, but rather how and by whom.." [Both the book and article
highly recommended]
