I like those. Here are some variants:
What have you read in the last year that really made you think? ...
that you didn't agree with? Why did they inspire such thought? What
did you do as a result?
What have you learned in the last year that has changed the way you
interact with the world? How?
What have you learned about making yourself more effective at achieving
the purpose you've set for yourself?
