thanks, Bruce--I enjoyed this thought. I've generally found that many of
the rules society (and bureaucracies) put on people are a giant hoax that
we play on ourselves. When people move outside of the rules, though, the
rest of the organization (or community) gets pretty antsy. Personally, I
approve of making personal decisions about which rules one should follow,
and which rules one should ignore. Unfortunately, I have to eat those
sentiments when another person makes similar decisions, but without the
same charity and graciousness that I show when I ignore rules. Go figure!
