I am wondering whether it is really the knowledge, but the rigid mental
models on how things are to be done instead, which are feared.
When asking worker why they are doing things the way they are doing them
and you get the answer: "Because we have done it always like this and
don't try to change otherwise we promise you will get problems with the
union." I can understand all those who prefer to start somewhere else a
new. This was the situation of the japanese carmakers when they started
their business in USA and Europe.
