I've been following the December discussion on organizations. Some of the
dialogue has questioned the need for an organization, how it learns,
retains knowledge, and how it survives and adapts.
The fact is that organizations exist and many of them have survived for
hundreds if not thousands of years. I suspect that many organizations that
are around today will probably exist longer than most of us.
Rick Karash, offers the definition that a Learning Organization is one in
which people at all levels, individually and collectively, are continually
increasing their capacity to produce results they really care about.
[Host's Note: Yes, that's in the LO welcome msg, but is properly
attributed to Senge. ...Rick]
My question is this: Does this public dialogue group represent a learning
organization and if so, how has it increased your capacity to produce
results? Does it learn, retain knowledge, does it adapt and will it
survive?
If it is not a learning organization, what is the distinction?
