Hello Mauricio,

Good day to you. Saw your note and I am interested as well to see what
others say. I have studied under Joe Rost for over 5 years now, he is my
friend and my mentor. I will tell you that his definition has changed a
bit, he no longer uses the word followers in his definition, he uses the
term collaborators. His book as you have mentioned is one of the most
quoted leadership books in existence today. It is also a fundamental
study of over 550 books and articles about leadership. In the first four
chapters Joe, dispels the myths of many of the current leadership ideas.
Great Man, trait, situational, contingency, charismatic, excellence theory
are once and for all examined for what they are , that being concepts
which were created for the industrial revolution.

I think I can safely say that the Industrial Revolution, at least in
America, is over. Joe offers a prescriptive definition of leadership for
the 21st Century and one that melds closely, albeit unintentional, with
the concepts of the learning organization.

Thanks very much for your post.
