I think what Rol is saying is that there is not always a linear cause and
effect between one approach and a desired result. The success of an
organization depends on the interaction of a number of variables, and
those variables can be difference for each organization.
Michael McMaster does a beautiful job making this point in "The
Intelligence Advantage," and in his new book "The Praxis Equation."
The question I think is most important is "does the approach I'm espousing
integrate well into the existing organization, while at the same time
increasing our capacity to meet the future effectively?"
