Replying to LO18829 --

Doc,

I don't know how women should dress. I have worked with several winners
and big time losers. I do not see any linking in the styles of clothes or
make up. The winners and losers were neat and clean. Some had wild make
up some had none. But for sure my initial impression was impacted by the
way they looked. Later my impressions were impacted by what they did. Lil
wore too much make up her clothes were too flashy but is the best factory
manager I've work with. Mary's look was conservative and expensive like
she had come from the board room which may be why she was there; but she
had no idea of the right thing to do to make the company stronger or the
people more willing to participate. Mary was more successful at making
money for hers elf but less successful as a person and leader.

Lil on the other hand was a leader of people and caused thing sot happen
and was respected for what was in her head and heart. So Roxanne is right
if you can stay in there long enough for people to over come the initial
impression. Doc you're right of course it is more complex than I can deal
with in a note. Appearance is relevant as are your abilities. Appearance
can open or close doors and keep you from being seen or heard.

What appearance is right depends on where you are. That is why i wear a
costume to work. Some times I am lucky and choose the right one.

C;clothes do impact our impressions and open or close doors of opportunity
but they do not keep them open. Only the person can do that.
