It should balance quite well in great organizations such as Toyota, Honda,
West Bend & Milwaukee. A mangers major responsibility is to

7 Provide processes that work exactly right to fill the customers needs
and then improve them. That can be done only if process results are
measured, understood and action taken on the results. Worker's jobs
include improving their processes.

7 Provide for the development of worthy stable purpose and help people
understand their role in the pursuit of the common purpose.

7 Provide a place where each individual knows the factors that keep and
satisfy customers and how he or she fit into the whole to deliver that
satisfaction. A place where everyone measures and improves their part in
delivering that satisfaction.

7 Understand that costs, quality and delivery can be simultaneously
improved by improving all processes. Managers focus on: Improve all
processes. Make them stable and exquisitely capable of meeting customer
expectations.

All of these job responsibilities are not traditional but they are tech
ones's than make companies great.
