Dear At,
thank you for this mail, which in combination with our conversations on
the "Digestor" helped me to sort out the spontanous / non-spontanous
issue.
I think that I got a slightly different point of view on the importance of
spontanous processes, so my task is now one of clear communication to
avoid misunderstandings.
In my above citations, I have collected the clues.
You are talking of the PATH wich nature takes. The big difference in
"change of free energy" /_\F and "work" W is, that while /_\F depends only
on initial and final state, W depends on the path taken.
The problem in my eyes is not so much spontanous / non-spontanous
processes but much more the imposing of predetermined paths of doing work.
Let me explain my thesis:
Nature is by no means following a spontanous path. Nature depends by all
means from the huge diversity of work done by the constant stream of
sunshine. A huge source of incoming energy. Nature breathes, drinks and
eats. So being non-spontanous is NOT the difference of humankind.
Nevertheless, all of your conclusions on the problems of pollution due to
the invention of artificial processes ("artificial" just to avoid the word
non-spontanous for the moment) are fully valid. So where is the
difference?
Here comes the second clue in: Master-slave relationship. The core-problem
of the slave is not that his actions are non-spontanous, but that he lost
the freedom to choose the way to work. Isn't it the FREEDOM OF CHOICE that
distinguishes the master from the salve?
While the sun offers free energy in form of light equally to the whole
nature to take from it and transform it in a for each species unique path
which strenghthen the seven essentialities perfectly for further growth,
the human master gives its slaves (be it machines or fellow humans) free
energy (e.g. steam or food) only to perform work on a prescribed path.
Thereby essentialities are impaired and further emergences neither can
happen nor are they part of the plan.
At, do you recognise how everything falls perfectly in place? The problem
is not that the system feeds on the surrounding while digestive learning,
increasing its free energy. The problem is whether the system is AUTONOM
in choosing the path which it follows while incorporating such free energy
- transforming it / producing entropy, including choosing the rate at
which this is going to happen. If it is autonom, the chances are high that
the seven essentialities are fulfilled, become mature and a new cycle
start with another emergence at the next bifurcation. If the system is not
autonom (a slave), the danger is high that essentialities are impaired.
The master of such a slave better takes care, that his slave operates
close to equilibrium - don't learn, don't create, better don't even think.
If in a machine due to an unplanned reinforcing loop the entropy
production starts to grow exponentially, the outcome is always a broken
machine - immergence.
In this interpretation, the cocoon of ice protects the autonomous property
of self direction of the person which otherwise has to fear that his/her
necessary freedom (of choosing his/her paths) is not respected.

Winfried
