Gijs Houtzagers <G.Houtzagers@inter.nl.net> indicates that there are no HR
systems available as yet which truly support a learning organization.
I addressed a conference of HR execs in San Francisco a while back on this
topic, indicating the kind of software I thought they should be demanding.
My point was that most existing HRIS's are limited to the basic
transactional processes mandated to the traditional HR function.
The process of human resource management will not become strategic in most
organizations until we find a way to capture systematically the knowledge,
experience, ideas, and solutions which their people are gaining each day.
The hrm process is too fragmented: some of it in HR, some in accounting,
some in the employee's operating division. A comprehensive system could
pull all of that together.
Following my presentation, I spoke with a sales exec from IBM who
indicated that their forward planning for the IBM Access System was moving
in the direction I was advocating.
Does anyone know of any product development along those lines?
