Doc,
Can I tip toe into the fray again, as one of the people who has mentioned
Hitler. Like you, Doc, I'm sure that everyone on this list identifies with
the evil of Hitler and others you mention.
I believe that it has value to draw attention to these people, how they
went about getting people to do there bidding. It enables us to draw
comparisons with what we regard as more appropriate leadership.
Sadly I do believe that many leaders in politics and organisations are
thugs, and only marginally less evil than Hitler. I experience people in
some large organisations having their lives destroyed by incompetent,
uncaring people in Leadership positions. So we have a major task to
encourage what we believe to be more appropriate style, behaviours and
values.
Regrettably there are not so many positive leadership role models that I
can stick entirely with them. I would be grateful for a few more
references. Many references don't travel well and I am often surprised by
how few names middle managers have heard of from the fields of politics,
business or elsewhere.
