Gerhard, I found your definition of leadership inspiring. You wrote that
leadership is to create learning opportunities, opportunities to reflect
on the process and the goals of the organization. I agree that the leader
many things at the same time a teacher, facilitator of dialogue, and one
who can effectively articulate and address the groups strengths and
weaknesses.

If we talk about the leader without talking about community of people that
supports, sustains, and allows the leader to lead we miss a whole aspect
of leadership. It is looking at leadership out of its context. It seems to
me that most studies of leadership focus on the leader and not at the
community of people around him/her. If a learning organization requires a
certain style of leadership it also requires a certain type of community
around the leader in order to flourish.
