Replying to LO22153 --

Hello !

Replying to LO22153

Yes I too agree that punishing failures is not conducive to learning. Yet
this was the mode in which many of us (adults) have grown up - recall the
'Xs' against answers which are wrong in your notebooks, parents
expectation of only the right behaviour from their children, otherwise
face their wrath, and this message(wrong to be wrong)continued till we
grew up and now I feel we have become the perpetuaters of similar
behaviour unconsciously (probably because we were not aware of any other
way). In organizations it is again we who build the culture bringing with
us the past.

I feel only when we realise deep down within us the damage we are doing to
ourselves and others that a shift in mind would be possible. The urgency
would be realised probably when we look at this in the home context first
where the emotional bonds are more intense and deeper. By bringing a
shift here the same can be transferred to organization context(by the
individual).

As we seem to be in an era of transition the speed with which the shift
would take place would depend on how fast I would like to reach the new
era. Pain is inevitable but I would phrase it as "sweet pain".

Incidentally, this is the first time I reponding though I was a keen
reader of the various messages on the list for some time. Credit goes to
Rick's encouraging message. Thanks
