There is a 1986 article by Marcia Salner called Adult Cognitive and
Epitemological Development in Systems Education. My copy is taken from
Systems Research Vol3 No 4 p225. It is written in 'academic' language and
I found it hard to read but worth the effort. It refers to theories by
K.S. Kitchener and W. Perry.
Separately, I don't know of any formal studies made of the links between
MBTI preference and systems thinking. As an observation, and having dealt
with many of them, I have found many people who agree that the SJ
temperament tends to find holistic and systemic thinking difficult. I
can't lay my hand on Fitzgerald and Kirby: Developking Leaders at the
moment but it may have something useful to say on the subject.
