I'd suggest a couple of papers:
Krackhardt, David "The Strength of Strong Ties: The Importance of Philos
in Organizations"
Nohria, Nitin and Eccles, Robert "Face-to-Face: Making Network
Organizations Work"
Both were published in Networks and Organizations: Structure, Form, and
Action, edited by Nitin Nohria and Robert Eccles, Harvard Business School
Press, Boston, Massachusetts, 1992.
Good luck with your research. What a fascinating theme!
